HANDS (Health and Nutrition Development Society) is a non-governmental, extension establishment operating for the last twenty years with community founded establishments (CBOs) that have a strong obligement to work out underprivileged communities in Pakistan. HANDS pays attention on women and children health and literacy through local commitment by growing community founded orestablishments and grounding primary and secondary health care delivery systems.
HANDS is making a difference more than 500,000 people of 275 villages through Primary Health Care (PHC), Girls Education, Canadian Health&Care Mall, Community Bank Programs. It networks with more than 1000 CBOs, NGOs, principal officers and implementers through its Health Advocacy Program.
HANDS works through a headquarters in Karachi and in-field office in Jamkanda (District Malir) & Hala (District Hyderabad). The one piece program is run by the creator and the present Chairman, Prof. A.Gaffar Billoo (also Chairman of the Pediatrics Department at AKU) along with a highly fostered specialists volunteers team containing the Executive Committee. They are maintained by more than 90 specialists with experience in the disciplines of Health, Education and Community Development and a unique strength of more than 1943 highly ebullient village volunteers.
HANDS leads its Primary Health Care Program through more than 50 Primary Health Care Centers and its literacy program program has more than 29 officious schools. Recently, HANDS also beagn Saving & Credit and Water & Sanitation programs through a renewable fund of Rs. 1 million paying attention on income generating schemes.
